After completing my undergrad in Music Education and Music
Industry at Delaware State University, I decided to take my education to the
next level. I knew it was more I wanted to learn and accomplish. I immediately
did research and discovered the Entertainment Business Master’s program at Full
Sail University. Throughout my education I covered 12 vital courses that would
prepare me for Entertainment Industry.
Media Literacy prepared me for business writing, structure,
and how to effectively complete and document research. It gave me the necessary
tools needed to create my online blog website and a completed LinkedIn account.
Executive Leadership brought out my management and
leadership skills. I acquired the skill in how to choose the right people for
development, which included: attitude, time, character, and vision. I’ve
learned importance of having a vision, noticing my appreciable assets: people, and staff
development to become an effective aspect in my life will permit me to exceed
beyond my potential.
Time managing plays a vital part is Project & Team management. We learned that in this industry something is always liable to go
wrong, which is why planning a scheduling is a must while working with a team.
Brand Development allowed me to find the true identity of my
business “TwinSounds” establishing a tagline and registering the trademark
through USPTO.gov. TwinSounds was able to establish a company not only for
recording, but also incorporated Media composing & Management. I learned
start-up companies should realize that the name doesn’t make your company; it’s
the idea or impression from the name that attracts customers.
My Finance course prepared me all the spreadsheets needed
for me to complete
the financial aspect for a business plan. “From start-up
cost to income statements”
Negotiation and Deal Making taught me how to separate myself
from the other person while trying to work towards a mutual agreement. I
learned how to evaluate a negotiation by using objective criteria’s such as
“statistics, industry standards, precedent, etc.
Product & Artist Management educated me on management
issues, scenarios and strategies to help resolve problems. I learned how
important it is to pay close attention agreements and contracts, and always
having a plan B in place to limit the stress and headache that could arise.
Entertainment law focused on entertainment contracts, IP (Intellectual
Property), copyright laws and more. I was able to buy my own domain and
trademark upon completion of this class. It gave me the knowledge needed to protect
my digital property.
In the end I was able to put everything I’ve learned into a
20 Page business plan equipped with all the necessary information about my business calledTwinSounds.
It was a great experience for me studying at Full Sail University. Although it was a struggle at times, my professors stuck with me until this end.

Interesting. I was looking into going into Full Sail University for Game Design since I have my B.A. in Information Technology so this is a good article Ced.
