Lil Wayne Gives Back with " The Carter Fund"


New Orleans Rapper Lil Wayne is one of the most profound artists in the hip-hop industry. Wayne has had numerous platinum albums, Grammies, and has sold millions of music worldwide. While most people pay attention to his success and money, Wayne spends a lot of his time donating and helping charities.  There are times when Wayne will preform in a concert and donate the funds to charity. Wayne currently runs a charity organization called The Carter fund. The organization awards grants and scholarships to after school programs around the United States. Believe it or not, if Lil Wayne had his way no one would know how much the rapper gave away so much to charity.  Wayne not only gives his money but also his time. Wayne and another business partner would spend time at school mentoring students. Wayne even allowed 10 students to help him in a commercial he is putting together for Mountain Dew.


Wayne told MTV that the kids put together everything for the commercial. He enjoys helping students and love giving back to the community. While Wayne take joy in helping youth, he enjoys spending time with his children as well. Wayne’s responsibility as a parent plays a great part why he loves to help the younger generations.

Recently Lil Wayne performed Live at “Carter Fund” CharityConcert in Arizona. All the proceeds from the concert went towards school programs for youth in Arizona.  Lil Wayne definitely ending out his year right making sure he can make a difference in young people eyes. Lil Wayne and Young Money plan to do their part and give away turkey’s for Thanksgiving; approximately 500 turkeys to hungry families.  

Presently Wayne Carter is preparing his daughter for the music industry as he just recently signed Reginae Carter as one of his potential artist.  Since Raginae signing she has performed with a group of girls called the OMG girls; and according to Wayne Carter “She is a star, just put it like that. A super megatstar”.  In conclusion, I think that he has been a positive influential artist in the music industry.

    I think that Lil Wayne finding a way to give back to others is something that is long overdue for him. He is an artist that has gained much success although many may not approve of his music. As other artists and professionals within the entertainment industry have already given back, I think that he is doing the right thing. But a concern would be whether or not his publicist is leading him to doing this or if this is something that he thought of doing on his own. I think another major concern is whether or not he is doing this too late in his career. With his many recent health scares, I think that this is something that he should have been doing a long time ago to ensure that he is able to maintain at least one clean aspect when it comes to his reputation.
